Abstract

This research work on indirect rule and its aftermaths in Nigeria tends to highlight the pattern of administrative framework, the British adopted in running or administering Nigeria as one of her colonial territories after the scramble and partition of Africa by European colonial powers which ended about 1900. The work will examine the origin of the indirect rule in Nigeria and what compelled the British to introduce the policy in Nigeria. The work will also examine some effects of this policy with a few references on other African countries.
