About the Journal

Editors’ Note

Kpakpando Journal of History and International Studies, is a publication of the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria, committed to publishing peer-reviewed articles in History and International Studies, Development Studies, International Relations, Humanities, Social Sciences as well as related disciplines. Kpakpando as a multi-disciplinary journal, seeks to promote and encourage  research and scholarship on African history, Blacks in Diaspora, social movements, culture, linguistics, English and Literary Studies, Religion, African Philosophy, Theatre Arts as well as French, to forge intellectual links and network with scholars and policy makers, and activists in Africa and beyond; to participate actively and collaboratively in continental and global debates, with interested organizations in Africa and other countries of the World, on issues specifically relevant as well as correlated to African Studies, and to work proactively for the promotion of scholarship or linkages with interested organisations or institutions in diverse regions of the world.

Thus, the aim of Kpakpando Journal is to disseminate scholarly discourse as well as promote academic research and in its wake encourage scholarly publications of diverse academics with productivity to publishing their learned articles. For diverse writers in the academia who desire to make an original contribution to knowledge in their chosen field, Kpakpando, remains a shining star in the firmament and a reputable journal to realize their objectives to publish their well-researched articles. The unwavering commitment of our board of editors, with the passion for unprecedented intellectual sagacity and resilience for critical peer-reviewed of articles has left a legacy of academic excellence. This Kpakpando Journal of the Department of History and International Studies, domiciled in the Faculty of Humanities, Imo State University, Owerri, was hoisted for the progression of knowledge and scholarship, for which the University as a citadel of learning is well known, and this is the fourth edition and the journal is published annually.

Our deep appreciation goes to our visionary, and dynamic, Vice Chancellor, Prof. U. U. Chukwumaeze, S.A.N, FCArb, LL.B, LL.M, Ph.D for the rare opportunity he gave us to serve the University, redoubled our zeal- “to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield”. We are grateful to our academic staff in the department of History and International Studies, whose names cannot be mentioned here for want of time and space.

Equally important to our success story and worthy of our special thanks are the Dean, Faculty of Humanities, IMSU, Owerri, Nigeria, Prof. Martins Uchenna Nwankwo and the immediate past Dean, Faculty of Humanities, IMSU, Owerri, Nigeria, Prof. D.C. Chima, for his immeasurable role towards ensuring that this journal comes out as a perfect intellectual discourse.

We are eternally grateful to the Almighty God for his perceptive insights of our editors, who sharpened the blunt edges of this journal as well as their intellect. We say take all the honour, glory and majesty in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
